From what I understand, Flemeth was after Morrigan's body - she just can't take it by force, hence her daughter's wilfulness means she is in no danger.. I don't really think she has softened; she was just more of an unknown in Origins. In the aftermath of the Elder One's defeat, Flemeth is seen sending something magical through an Eluvian.
